Dulorme to be moved up to #1 by WBC at 147

By Dan Ambrose: Unbeaten welterweight contender Thomas Dulorme (15-0, 12 KO’s) is about to be pushed up from #3 WBC to #1 WBC when the World Boxing Council comes out with their next adjustment of their rankings later this month, according to Primerahora.com.

This is good news but it probably won’t mean much of any change from where he’s at now, because the WBC champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. isn’t about to face an unknown like 22-year-old Dulorme this year, next year or probably the year after as well. Dulorme’s career is still at the early stages and by the time he’s built up his name to be someone that Mayweather would want to fight, Mayweather will have long retired. Dulorme is going to have to be satisfied facing other opposition in the division, because if the WBC tries to force Mayweather to fight Dulorme, he’ll merely vacate the title. And if he does that then the WBC will be out the nice sanctioning fees they get each time Mayweather defends their strap.

Dulorme has a fight coming up at the end of this month against Ivan Hernandez (29-3, 23 KO’s) in a scheduled 10 round bout at the Coliseo Guillermo Angulo, Carolina, Puerto Rico. Dulorme should win that fight no problem, because Hernandez has only fought twice in the past five years and he’s going to be really in trouble against a hard puncher like that.

Dulorme will be fighting again this year on October 27th in a fight that will be aired by HBO against an opponent still to be determined.

The WBC isn’t doing Dulorme any favors by pushing up so quickly in their rankings because he’s faced pretty much stiffs his entire four year pro career and if you put him in with someone too good, he could get exposed and badly beaten. Dulorme would be better off trying to get a fight against the light hitting WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi, because he can’t punch and he’s vulnerable.
