Image: Dirrell: I doubt Abraham will fight meBy Scott Gilfoid: Andre Dirrell (20-1, 14 KO’s) is ready to take the WBO 168 lb title off of newly crowned WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (35-3, 27 KO’s) if he dares to step inside the ring with the talented American again. Abraham captured the WBO title off of champion Robert Stieglitz (42-3, 23 KO’s) last Saturday night by a 12 round unanimous decision in Berlin, Germany.

Dirrell, 28, doesn’t want to let Abraham enjoy his new title for very long, as he’s ready to take it off of his hands if he can get the slugger to accept his challenge.

Dirrell said on his twitter “Let me be the mandatory for that WBO after my next fight!!! I bet Abraham won’t fight me!!! Haha. I can’t wait.”

Dirrell shouldn’t lower himself to ask for a fight against Abraham, because it’s not going to happen. Believe me, if Abraham wanted a fight against Dirrell he wouldn’t have to do anything because Abraham’s promoters would be on the phone calling him up looking to make the fight happen. But you know they’re not going to do that and you want to know why? Just take one look at Dirrell’s masterful performance in beating Abraham two years ago in the Super Six tournament.

Dirrell dominated Abraham from start to finish and created a blueprint in how to beat him, which was later followed by Carl Froch and Andre Ward. Abraham ended up fouling out of the fight in the 11th round when he hit Dirrell after he had slipped and fallen on the wet canvas. The referee immediately disqualified Abraham, and from there it was downhill for Abe with him losing to both Froch and Ward.

Beating Stieglitz was no big deal, because he was someone that was bound to get beaten sooner or later once he finally fought someone that could fight a little. It’s sad that it took him three years before he finally fought a halfway decent fighter.

Abraham isn’t going to be able to hold down his WBO title for long. The first good opponent he takes he’s going to lose to. If he fights Mikkel Kessler then it’s going to be all over for him as the WBO champ. Heck, I can even see George Groves beating Abraham, and that’s how limited he is.
