McKenna (McJack): 6’9” crowd pleaser Tyson Fury (19-0, 14 KO’s) now says that he will be the fighter to end the long dominance of the Klitscko’s. This after saying just a few months ago that he was not ready to fight either of the Klitschko brothers. Tyson easily defeated New York journeyman Vinny Maddalone (35-8, 26 KO’s) in an impressive five round stoppage.

Fury referred to former WBA heavyweight champion Davie Haye (25-2, 23 KO’s) and Derek Chisora (15-3, 9 KO’s) who battle it out Saturday night as a couple of losers. The 23 year old Fury was quoted in the Sun saying:

“They have had their chance. Haye blew it then complained about his toe against Wladimir Klitschko, while Chisora was a competitive loser against Vitali.

“They are losers and it’s my time to shine now. It’s my era and I will shine once I get my shot. I’m the leading heavyweight in Britain by a mile.

“I’ve fought the best opponents compared to the other British heavyweights. Their fight on Saturday night might get a lot of interest but it could be a stinker because if Haye doesn’t come to fight, it will be an awful one.”

Fury went on to say that if Haye wins on Saturday night he will attempt to land a fight with one of the Klitschko’s but that he will be the one who fights one of them next. Fury has huge drawing power in his native England and Wladimir Klitschko has indicated that a fight with Tyson may be on his agenda in 2013.

Promoter Mike Hennessey is more cautious than Fury believing that he needs two or three more fights before taking on one of the Klitschko’s. When the name of Tomasz Adamek came up as a possible future opponent Fury said that he was too small for him and that he would score an easy KO win. Hennessey reportedly likes the idea of Fury – Adamek fight and believes it would be a huge fight either in England or the United States.

Fury has been carefully groomed thus far in his career and has been successful against mainly 2nd tier opposition. At some point his management team needs to step it up and put him in against a legitimate contender.
