Soto Karass stops Gonzalez; Hugo Ruiz TKOs Sampson

By Jim Dower: Former welterweight contender Jesus Soto Karass (26-7, 17 KO’s) defeated Euri Gonzalez (20-3-1, 14 KO’s) by a 5th round TKO on Saturday night at The Hangar, in Costa Mesa, California. The 29-year-old Soto Karass knocked Gonzalez down with a right hand, and then teed off on him until the fight was halted at 1:50 of the round.

Soto Karass is trying to get back into the top 15 in the welterweight division after losing three consecutive fights to Mike Jones [twice] and Gabriel Rosado.


Undefeated super featherweight Franciso Vargas (12-0, 10 KO’s) destroyed Irving Torres (9-3, 7 KO’s) in a 1st round TKO.


Hugo Ruiz stops Jean Sampson

WBA interim bantamweight champion Hugo Ruiz (31-1, 28 KO’s) stopped challenger Jean Sampson (12-2, 7 KO’s) in the 9th round on Saturday night at the Estadio de Beisbol Arturo C. Nahl in La Paz, BCS, Mexico.


WBA interim female flyweight champion Arely Mucino (16-2-1, 9 KO’s) defeated Ana Fernandez (14-6, 10 KO’s) in the 2nd round.


Lightweight Rene Gonzalez (30-5-1, 23 KO’s) stopped Abdiel Ramirez (14-1-1, 13 KO’s) by a 2nd round TKO.


Billie Godoy defeats Sebastian Heiland

Undefeated middleweight contender Billie Godoy (26-0, 13 KO’) defeated Sebastian Heiland (19-3-2, 9 KO’s) by a 12 round unanimous decision on Saturday night to capture the vacant WBC International middleweight title at the Estadio Ruca Che, Neuquen, Neuquen, Argentina. The final judges’ scores were 115-111, 114-112 and 115-111.
