Image: Mayweather gets out of jail next week on good behaviorBy Chris Williams: Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be getting out of jail early next week on August 3rd from the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mayweather Jr. has been serving time since June 1st and he could be promoted by his good buddy 50 Cent, who recently formed his own promotional company TMT Promotions.

Mayweather Jr. has been working with Golden Boy Promotions steadily since 2007. It’s unclear whether that will be over with once Mayweather Jr. gets out, but judging by the twitter comments made by 50 Cent recently to Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya, you would have to believe that will be the case.

De La Hoya commented on his twitter “Everyone wanting to be a boxing promoter? Good luck. Easier said than done.”

50 Cent said to De La Hoya on twitter “Sweetheart, I’m surprised you would respond to me and Floyd starting company the way you did.”

De La Hoya then said “You’re a boxing promoter? Didn’t know, but good luck. Maybe we can work someday.”

50 Cent replied back “Great back pedal. Can you swim backwards like that too, girl? LOL. I [accept] that as [an] apology.”

We’ll have to see if Golden Boy Promotions will have anything to do with any of Mayweather’s future fights, but if Mayweather does go with TMT, it would seem pointless for him to continue to work with Golden Boy. Why would he? Other than maybe fighting some of Golden Boy’s stable fighters, Mayweather wouldn’t really need to.

TMT Promotions could be about to sign Yuriorkis Gamboa and Andre Dirrell. Those are two good fighters and it would be a great addition to their promotional company.

Floyd has said he wants to be back in the ring before the end of the year. It’s not likely going to be Manny Pacquiao. That fight, if it ever does get made, will possibly happen next year if the Filipino agrees to the purse split that Mayweather feels he deserves.
