Image: Josesito Lopez doesn't want to wait on Ortiz; wants big names nowBy Dan Ambrose: As was expected, Josesito Lopez (30-4, 18 KO’s) will be looking to get a big name for his next fight to take advantage of his near miracle win over former WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz last month. Lopez doesn’t want wait until Ortiz’s broken jaw heals up before he fights again.

According to fightnews.com, Lopez wants to get the biggest fight possible for his next bout and that likely won’t be a rematch against Ortiz.

Lopez said to fightnews.com “I definitely want to fight the best fighters in the world. Whatever the best option is out there.”

Lopez says he open to fighting in both the light welterweight and welterweight divisions, although he’d be willing to move up to fight WBC junior middleweight champion Saul Alvarez is he’s interested in fighting him. I kind of doubt he is, because that would be too much of a mismatch.

As good as Lopez’s win was, I don’t see it leading to him fighting guys like Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. About the best I can see Lopez getting is a maybe a fight against Marcos Maidana or Lucas Matthysse. That’s pretty much it. IBF welterweight champ Randall Bailey already has a fight scheduled, and WBA 147 pound champion Paulie Malignaggi’s name is being linked with Dmitry Salita for his first title defense.

Lopez was probably hoping for a real big fight, but unfortunately there isn’t one out there for him right now. Even Maidana and Matthysse will likely won’t bother facing Lopez, because they already have other ideas for fights. As such, Lopez’s best bet might be to face a lower quality opponent in a stay busy fight while he waits for Ortiz to lick his wounds and heal up from his fractured jaw.
