If Broner wants an easy title he should fight Robert Guerrero for WBC interim 147 lb strap

Image: If Broner wants an easy title he should fight Robert Guerrero for WBC interim 147 lb strapBy Scott Gilfoid: Adrien Broner (24-0, 20 KO’s) should forget about fighting at lightweight and move up to welterweight immediately to challenge WBC interim welterweight champion Robert Guerrero (30-1-1, 18 KO’s) for his newly won title. If Guerrero was able to move up two divisions and beat the limited Selcuk Aydin then Broner can do the same thing with the light hitting Guerrero.

It’s a perfect fight. Broner fought at 146 in his last fight against Vincente Escobedo, so it’s not as if he’s going to be at any disadvantage against Guerrero. I know Guerrero wants to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr, but in this case I think Mayweather-lite, Broner is more than good enough to take care of business against Guerrero. If Guerrero can get past Broner, then I have no problems with a Mayweather-Guerrero fight taking place. But if that fight is made next it would be a bad for boxing fans because Guerrero looked plain awful last night. If I was in San Jose, California at the fight, I would been booing like a madman at how badly Guerrero stunk up the joint with all that clinching he was doing.

Broner is a major talent and he already has the size and power to compete at welterweight. He doesn’t need to waste time fighting at lightweight where there are few real challenges for him. It’ll be too easy. Broner needs to spot the weak Guerrero and take his interim WBC strap off of him nice and quick. They’d have to work out a deal somehow because Guerrero is televised on Showtime, whereas Broner is on HBO. But that shouldn’t get in the way of that fight getting made. But honestly Broner is the only fighter that Guerrero deserves right now. Mayweather is out of the question because Guerrero hasn’t paid his dues yet at 147.

I can see Broner easily beating Guerrero and knocking him out cold. Even if Guerrero tries his clinching tricks, Broner would flatten him with short right hands to the head and beat him in an embarrassingly easy fight.
