Image: Charr: I will shock Vitali and the world on September 8thBy Sean McDaniel: The Syria born undefeated Manuel Charr (21-0, 11 KO’s) figures that he’s got the skills and the power to upset the odds by beating the soon to be 41-year-old WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (44-2, 40 KO’s) in their September 8th fight at the Olympisky Sport Hall, Moscow, Russia.

The Charr-Vitali fight was made official earlier today for Russia, and it’s not pleased boxing fans, many of which see Vitali taking yet another soft opponent to get an easy payday against Charr. Since Charr has never really faced anyone halfway decent it’s hard to tell if he’s as awful as he looks. He doesn’t look good at all, but he’s done a good job of beating the C level opponents that he’s been matched against by his German handlers.

Charr told ESPN “Vitali will see in my eyes that he cannot win the fight. Many think I will come to lose but I am coming to win. I will shock Vitali and the boxing world and get his title.”

Charr is right about boxing fans seeing him coming to lose, but I don’t know that he’s going to be able to change anyone’s opinion of him on September 8th unless he loses a close one. Winning the fight isn’t even under consideration in this fight unless Vitali blows out a knee, elbow, wrist or tears up his shoulder again like he did in his last fight. Winning by an injury is about the only way I can see Charr beating Vitali, because he doesn’t have the power, size or experience for this fight. Ideally, the World Boxing Council should have never ranked an inexperienced fighter like Charr at #7 until he beat someone good to deserve the ranking. However, sanctioning bodies are difficult to under and this is proof of it with Charr ranked as high as he is about to get beaten.
