Boxrec calling Chisora-Haye results a “no contest”

Image: Boxrec calling Chisora-Haye results a "no contest"By Scott Gilfoid: I just got a laugh at looking at boxrec with their listing of the results of the David Haye vs. Dereck Chisora fight from this past weekend. Instead of listing it as a 5th round TKO win for Haye, they’ve got it listed as a 5th round no contest. What is that? That’s a joke, right?

The fight may not have been sanctioned by the British Boxing Board of Control, but it’s an official fight after the Luxembourg Boxing Federation sanctioned it. The fight is legit, and it should be reflected as so by boxrec. They are an organization that is supposed to be keeping track of records and fight results, aren’t they? Well then they need to get on their j-o-b and put down the correct fight results.

Who knows why they put the no contest results down, perhaps they don’t see it as a real fight because of the British Boxing Board of Control not being involved in sanctioning it, but it was real and did happen, so they need to get with the program. We may see the Luxembourg Boxing Federation sanctioning a lot more fights in the future, and it’s going to look kind of silly if boxrec does what they did with the Haye-Chisora fight by calling them no contests. I hope that doesn’t happen, because it makes no sense.

With the fight put down as a no contest by boxrec, the records of Haye and Chisora remain as they were before their fight, as if the fight didn’t happen at all. How sad. It did happen and a lot of people enjoyed that fight.
