The card was supposed to be televised by Showtime and take place a the Bell Center in Montreal. One casualty for the fight postponement is the Adonis Stevenson vs. Don George 167 pound IBF eliminator bout.

This fight was supposed to be the co-feature bout, and frankly it was good enough to be the main event. Unfortunately, the August 11th card won’t go ahead on that date. Instead, the Stevenson-George bout will be rescheduled for late August or early September, according to Dan Rafael.

Yvon Michel, the promoter for Stevenson, plans on separating the Stevenson-George fight from the Cloud-Pascal fight card and having it take place with only a small delay of several weeks or more rather than having the fight delayed for an extensive amount of time while Pascal’s hand injury to his right hand heals up.

The winner of the Stevenson-George fight will become the mandatory challenger for IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch. They’ll still likely have to wait until late 2013 or possibly early 2014 to finally get a shot against Froch or whoever the IBF champion is by that time. Froch has a couple of tough bouts ahead of him starting with a possible bout in October against unbeaten super middleweight contender Thomas Oosthuizen and then a rematch against former IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute in March of next year in March.

Before George finally accepted a fight with him, the hard hitting Stevenson has had problems getting opponents to fight him. The following contenders turned Stevenson down: Mikkel Kessler, Andre Dirrell, Sakio Bika, Kelly Pavlik, Oosthuizen and Edwin Rodriguez.
