Image: Andre Ward interested in rematches against Froch or Kessler: Will they man up and face him?By Scott Gilfoid: WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward has whipped both Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler in the past, and he wouldn’t mind pounding on them again if they’re up for it.

Froch has gotten kind of lippy since beating IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute, and he’s said he thinks he’d batter Ward if he was at his best like he was on that fight. But in the next breath Froch says he’s not interested in facing Ward right now. I can’t say I’m surprised, but I don’t know why Froch even bothers to mention Ward if he’s not willing to get in the ring with him to try and avenge his spanking.

Ward told fighthype.com he’s yet to hear from either Kessler or Froch’s promoters about a fight with either guy. He says he wouldn’t mind fighting them in their own countries if he had to. That’s how confident Ward is that he’d beat both guys.

Froch and Kessler are in talks for a fight coming up later on this year. Once the dust settles from that fight, Froch has to fight a rematch against Bute, if Froch is able to get past Kessler. I don’t think for a second that Froch will win that fight. He’ll get beaten again by Kessler, so it’ll be up to Kessler whether he wants to fight Ward again or take the fight against Bute.

You don’t have to be a fortune teller to guess that Kessler will opt for the easier fight against Bute. Heck, why would he want to face Ward again and get beat up for a second time. Their fight in 2009 was one of the most one-sided fights I’ve ever seen in my life. Ward totally schooled Kessler and had him looking like a rank amateur. Kessler’s face was covered blood and he looked like he was run over by a tank. I got to hand it to Ward, he really gave it to Kessler big time.

So basically I don’t see Kessler or Froch ever wanting to get in the ring with Ward again. They’re both been whipped by him and I see them doing nothing more than some occasional name dropping to give the impression that they’ll one day fight Ward again. I mean, they almost have to because when you get whipped as bad as Froch and Kessler did by a talent like Ward, you got to be name dropping 24/7 to let your fans know that you intend on eventually at least trying to avenge their losses.
