It’s not supposed to be a competitive fight, as Pavlik is still working his way back into facing top tier opposition after missing a lot of action in the past two years with personal problems. Pavlik has already made one comeback fight with a blowout of Aaron Jaco in March, and now he hopes to get another easy win in his fight tomorrow night against the little known Sigmon.

Sigmon doesn’t see himself as just another one of Pavlik’s victims, and believes he’s got a good chance of winning this fight. Sigmon thinks he’s going to make a name for himself by defeating Pavlik.

Sigmon told RingTV “He [Pavlik] doesn’t have is supreme confidence anymore…I feel that I’m the complete package…I don’t have any pressure on me. Kelly has all the pressure on him.”

Sigmon is probably right about Pavlik not being as confident as he once was. Losing to guys like Bernard Hopkins and Sergio Martinez will do that to you. Pavlik also looked terrible in barely beating fringe super middleweight contender Alfonso Lopez last year in a 10 round majority decision. This is the same Lopez that super middleweight contender Dyah Davis recently won a lopsided 10 round unanimous decision over last January. Pavlik’s confidence clearly hasn’t taken a hit. He turned down a fight against IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute last year that would have given Pavlik a big million dollar payday.

In other fights on Friday’s card:

Jesse Magdaleno vs. Carlos Valcarcel
Terence Crawford vs. David Rodela
Andy Ruiz Jr vs. Kendrick Releford

Sigmon sounds really confident, but he unfortunately will lose badly in this fight. There’s confidence and there’s talent. Pavlik may not have the confidence that he once had, but his talent will get him through this fight with ease. Sigmon’s confidence will likely cause him to get stopped even earlier than he would be if he was with fear.
