Pacquiao may look bad if he doesn’t avenge his loss to Bradley

Image: Pacquiao may look bad if he doesn't avenge his loss to BradleyBy Chris Williams: There’s a strong possibility that Manny Pacquiao will decide to skip trying to avenge his loss to Tim Bradley for his next fight on November 10th, and will instead look to face another one of his promoter Bob Arum’s Top Rank stable fighters, possibly Juan Manuel Marquez. I think that would be the wrong move for Pacuqiao if he does decide to avoid Bradley.

I don’t know how it is in the Philippines, but in the United States when a fighter gets beaten, he wants to try and avenge the loss by facing the guy that just beat him. This is kind of a tradition here, so I don’t quite understand how Pacquiao could walk away and go off and fight someone else. From my frame of reference this would look bad, like the type of behavior of someone who doesn’t have the self belief that he can win the fight in a rematch.

We already saw Pacquiao go in another direction after winning a very controversial decision over Marquez last November by deciding that it would be better to face Tim Bradley instead. I guess Pacquiao expected the Bradley fight to be a success, but unfortunately it turn out that way. But instead of looking to finish the business with Bradley, we may see Pacquiao moving on to another opponent. What is that? Boxing fans want to see Pacquiao fight Bradley again so they can see if Bradley can beat Pacquiao twice. Why would Pacquiao want to fight someone else after a loss? He’s 33, but I thought Pacquiao fought like a middle-aged fighter in there against Bradley.

If Pacquiao isn’t going to face Bradley, I’d much rather see him finally step inside the ring to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. Of course, that would require for Pacquiao to accept a much smaller financial split now that he’s been beaten by Bradley. But you can’t expect Mayweather to give a 50-50 deal to Pacquiao now that he’s been defeated by Bradley, can you?

If Pacquiao fights Marquez, I see it going badly for the Filipino again. I’m just wondering what Pacquiao will do if things don’t go well him.
