Image: Fury: I don't rate Deontay Wilder and Seth MitchellBy Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten British heavyweight Tyson Fury (18-0, 13 KO’s) doesn’t have any interest in facing two of the best prospects on the world scene 6’7″ Deontay Wilder (23-0, 23 KO’s) and Seth Mitchell (25-0, 19 KO’s) and you have to wonder why the 24-year-old Fury doesn’t rate them.

Wilder and Mitchell are really impressing and winning countless followers with their spectacular newsreel knockouts. They’re obviously much bigger punches than the 6’9″ Fury, and superior in pretty much every areas of their game, yet Fury doesn’t rate them. I wonder why? Sounds like the old Fox and the Grapes fables.

Fury said to the dailystar.co.uk “I don’t rate the Americans, like Seth Mitchell and Deontay Wilder.”

Gee, I wonder if this is jealousy at work here? I guess I could understand Fury not rating those two talents if he were jealous, because it’s a natural emotion to have when faced with two amazing fighters like Wilder and Mitchell. These two are a couple of diamonds in the rough and are about to get polished up in a real hurry. With WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko about to retire possibly at the end of the year, and his brother IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko the next one to go, that leaves Mitchell and Wilder to take over the heavyweight division.

I see Mitchell and Wilder carrying the division for another 10 to 15 years. Mitchell is 30, so he’ll only be able to stay at the top for 10 years. But Wilder is a young 26, and there’s no reason why he can’t grab the heavyweight title reigns and stay on top for 15 years while every once in awhile swatting down one of the would be challengers.
