Deontay Wilder destroys Owen Beck in 3rd round!
By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight knockout artist Deontay Wilder (23-0, 23 KO’s) continued his assault on the heavyweight division, stopping the hard hitting Owen Beck (29-11, 20 KO’s) in the 3rd round on Saturday night at the Killer Buzz Arena, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, United States.
Wilder, 26, knocked Beck down four times in the fight with sledgehammer rights and lefts, knocking Beck down once in the 1st and 2nd, and twice in the 3rd round respectively. Rather than coming out for the 4th and risking getting knocked down again, Beck decided to call it a night on his stool instead of coming out for more of a beating from the talented Wilder.
Wilder flattened Beck with a tremendous right hand late in the 1st round that sent Beck to his knees on the canvas. To his credit, Beck got up and continued fighting, if you want to call it that.
In the 2nd round, Wilder went to his left hand to put Beck on the canvas for the second time in the fight.
In the 3rd round, Wilder was basically teeing off on Beck at will. Wilder put Beck down twice more, after the round ended, Beck decided not to come out for the 4th round.
Wilder expects to be back in action next month in Biloxi late in the month against an opponent still to be determined. It’s possible that the fight will be aired on HBO’s Boxing After Dark.
