Image: What fights do fans want in 2012/2013?By Dallan O’ Donnell: Apart from the obvious Mayweather-Pacquiao showdown that simply needs to happen, what other fights would boxing fans actually want to see over the next year? I have compiled a short list of some fights that would leave fans drooling.

Paulie Malignaggi is a world champion again and now everyone seems to want a piece of him. Fans were talking about and an Amir Khan rematch but that isn’t likely to happen so why not put undefeated welterweight star Kell Brook against the Magic Man?

Brook has plenty of power and Malignaggi has the slickness and speed. He is also a likeable guy and has a huge fan base in Britain, where Brook is from, so it makes commercial sense as well.

After Amir Khan had to cancel his proposed a rematch with Lamont Peterson Khan has been left without an opponent for a July showdown. Danny Garcia has been mentioned and I like the sound of that. Garcia recently beat legendary Mexican Warrior Erik Morales and is an unbeaten fighter.

Another name in line for Khan is Devon Alexander. Alexander has plenty of power, so Khan would be taking a risk there but he does hold a massive speed advantage. Erik Morales was also mentioned but hopefully Khan avoids that mismatch. A younger Morales in his prime would have beaten Khan but now he would be a sitting duck.

Sergio Martinez, one of the world’s best fighters. I would love to see him in the ring with Floyd Mayweather at 154 pounds which Martinez said he would drop down to. Martinez is slick, fast and has incredible power, so it is probably a no-go for Floyd.

Another possibility is Miguel Cotto at 154 pounds. That, to me makes sense. Both fighters love to brawl and neither shy away from a fight.

Martinez will fight Chavez Jr. in September, so hopefully there will be bigger fights to come in 2013.

I would also like to see Saul Alvarez step it up a notch and fight the likes of Cotto, Martinez then maybe Mayweather. There are talks of Alvarez against Victor Ortiz at 154 pounds.

Then a British domestic clash that has to happen, Carl Froch vs. Scott Quigg is a must for British fight fans.

Here is a list in short of fights that I would love to see in the next year or two:

Sergio Martinez vs. Floyd Mayweather/ Miguel Cotto/ Saul Alvarez
Saul Alvarez vs. Kirkland/ Cotto/ Martinez
Amir Khan vs. Danny Garcia/ Timothy Bradley
Erik Morales vs. Juan Manuel Marquez
Paulie Malignaggi vs. Kell Brook/ Zab Judah
Scott Quigg vs. Carl Frampton

There are some of the biggest fights that could happen. Most of them will not happen but hopefully promoters and fighters alike can make things happen.

What fight do you want to see in the next year? Do you agree with my short list?
