Mayweather wants a 60-40 deal before he’ll agree to fight Pacquiao. However, Pacquiao and his promoter are either looking for a 50-50 deal or a 45-45 with the extra 10 percent going to the winner.

Schaefer said to Jim Lampley on his program On the Fight Game with Jim Lampley “If they really want to do it, call me and let’s get the fight done. I think he [Floyd] should get the lion’s share. Fair is fair. I think what we should do is have one of the big accounting firms to account to go back to 2007, since we’ve [Golden Boy Promotions] been involved with Floyd Mayweather, account the pay-per-view numbers, account the live gate; Account all these numbers. We can do the same with Pacquiao, and we can see what kind of ratio it is. If in fact, they prove the same amount of PPVs, the same amount live gate review; you know what what? It should be a 50-50 split, but if they don’t have that then why should it?”

I agree with Schaefer. They need to have a big accounting firm go over the live gates and pay-per-view numbers between both Pacquiao and Mayweather since 2007, and if Mayweather is the top guy in the money department, then Pacquiao should get no more than between 30-40 percent of the money pie. Why should Mayweather give Pacquiao and even 50-50 deal if he’s not getting the same amount of numbers as Mayweather? We just saw that the preliminary numbers for the Mayweather vs. Miguel Cotto fight have come out to be 1.5 million buys, and that number is likely go go up even more as the statistics continue to be tabulated.

In contrast, Pacquiao’s fight with Cotto brought in only 1.25 million PPV buys and that was the final number. Mayweather is already ahead of Pacquiao’s fight with Cotto in the number of buys, so why should Mayweather give him an even deal?
