Image: Haye calls Chisora and coach idiotsBy John F. McKenna (McJack): For a fight that will not be sanctioned by either the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) or the World Boxing Council (WBC) the bout between former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-2, 23 KO’s) and Derick Chisora (15-3, 9 KO’s) is certainly drawing a huge amount of interest in the boxing world and in the British Isles in particular.

British promoter Frank Warren defied the BBBofC when he went to Luxembourg to get sanctioned to put the fight on. Warren is hopeful of putting the controversial fight on at West Ham United’s Upton Park grounds on July 14. But now the WBC is claiming it will take promoter Warren’s license from him if he goes ahead with the bout. Warren is of the opinion that he can legally put the fight on as planned. Ticket sales have been brisk with over 20,000 tickets being sold within days of the announcement of the date and venue of the fight.

Haye is hopeful that after he dispatches Chisora, as he believes he will easily do, he will be in line for a huge money fight with WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (44-2, 40 KO’s). Klitschko has gone on record numerous times to say that he wants to take “The Hayemaker” on in the squared circle. As WBC heavyweight champion it is presumed that Vitali would have a considerable amount of clout in making a fight between himself and the former WBA champion happen before he retires.

Haye had some interesting comments about his upcoming fight with Chisora and also the famed brawl between the two which ensued at the post fight press conference after the Klitschko – Chisora fight on February 18 in Germany. Haye was quoted in the Daily Star Sunday edition saying the following:

“Chisora has an idiotic coach who has also offered me out in a fight after I’ve already broken his jaw at the press conference.

“I’m not sure if anyone knows he had his jaw wired because it was broken. Idiot. Why is he, a 50 year old man, trying to fight me when he has already seen me take out his young, primed fighter with four blows? Then he wants to come and fight me. Now he has done a video on the internet saying, ‘I want to fight David. I know it won’t make any money, but I’ll kick his —-!’

“This is the guy who is training him, so these two idiots together, two buffoons, can you imagine them in the gym?”

Haye has described Chisora as being totally unpredictable. At the press conference to announce the fight between the two a 7 foot steel fence was used to separate the two fighters.
