According to examiner.com, the talented 28-year-old Dirrell came over from his home in Flint, Michigan for what was supposed to be a short stay.

However, Dirrell has been so energized and impressed with the atmosphere in the Mayweather gym, that’s stayed on longer to train and hang out with Mayweather.

Dirrell, #4 WBO, recently impressed the fighters in the gym with his sparring session with Badou Jack, where Dirrell showed some of his arsenal of punches and his blazing fast hand speed much to the pleasure of all those who had the privilege of watching him work.

Being able to see how Mayweather goes about his training, and to see how he lives in his huge Las Vegas mansion, has been a big source of motivation for the young Dirrell. He’s still learning and it’s great for him to be around such a talent like Mayweather, because Dirrell has many of the same attributes that Mayweather Jr. has in terms of fast hands, quick feet and superb defense. Dirrell really has the entire Mayweather toolkit. The only thing that’s missing is fights. Dirrell needs good opposition for him to show what he can do, and needs to be able to fight them in the United States to ensure that he doesn’t wind up losing to decisions against fighters that he completely dominated.

Being around Mayweather is good chance for Dirrell to have a mentor to show him the ropes so that he can get to the next level. Mayweather is perfect because he works so hard and is such a professional.

Dirrell doesn’t have an opponent scheduled for his next fight, but he’s going to be back in the ring soon, perhaps next month. In his last fight, Dirrell destroyed Darryl Cunningham by a 2nd round TKO last December.
