By facing Chambers, Adamek, 35, seems to be trying to get pushed up in the rankings in a hurry so he can get another payday bout against one of the Klitschko brothers.

It would be little more than just another payday because Adamek is too little to beat either of the Klitschko brothers and he’ll just get beaten with ease like he was against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko last September in Adamek’s 10th round TKO loss. He’s not going to get any better at 35, and he’s certainly not going to grow to where he can compete against either of the Klitschks unless it’s at chess or some other sport.

Chambers probably wouldn’t have been picked out by Adamek and his team if not for Chambers having been out of the ring since February of last year. It’s more than that, through. Chambers has been a part time fighter ever since he was stopped by IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in March of 2010. Chambers suffered a bad 12th round knockout in that fight.

Chambers then took 11 months off from boxing and didn’t fight again until February 2011 against Derric Rossy. Chambers then took another year off and he will have been out of the ring for 16 months by the time he and Adamek face off on June 16th. That doesn’t bode well for Chambers, because he’ll probably be gassed out by the 4th round at best.

Adamek looked horrible in his loss to Vitali Klitschko. It didn’t even seem like a real fight because Adamek was so bad. I got the impression this fight was the end result of all of Adamek’s soft fights at heavyweight against C level opposition to get him ranked high enough to where he could get a title shot. It just seemed wrong. I really don’t like the idea of heavyweights facing C level opposition to get title shots.

I’d much prefer that they take on one to two top five contenders to get a title shot. They honestly make sure that the mandatory challenger faces at least two top five contenders before they get put in with a champion so as to avoid having guys back their way into a title shot by hand-picking 3rd tier opposition.
