This is a dangerous fight for the 28-year-old Price, because Sexton can punch a little and has a very technical style of fighting that includes a lot of hard jabbing. Price has been hurt in the amateur level against big punchers like Roberto Cammarelle and Bermane Stiverne. Both of those guys stopped Price. At the heavyweight level, Price has been matched exclusively with non-punchers, although his last opponent John McDermott had decent power for a domestic level fighter.

Sexton is a clear step up from McDermott, because Sexton can punch effectively and box well. Sexton’s weakness is his chin, although it’s really not that bad. He can likely take as hard as shot as Price. Both of Sexton’s losses have come against the hard hitting Dereck Chisora in fights in which Sexton was doing a reasonably good job in. He fought especially good in his second fight with Chisora until running out of gas in the 9th round and making a mistake of letting Chisora stay on his chest to land clubbing right hands.

Price and Sexton are fighting for Tyson Fury’s British title after he recently vacated the belt rather than face Price in what would have been a hard fight for both of them. Fury doesn’t need the title because he’s already ranked at No.7 by the World Boxing Council and is almost assured a big money payday bout against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko just by doing next to nothing. He doesn’t need a risky right because it doesn’t get him anywhere. Price would likely have done the same thing if he was in Fury’s shoes and in the position to get a payday bout that could be half a million or more.
