Image: Khan says he really hates Lamont Peterson and wants to hurt himBy Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan’s loss to Lamont Peterson burns him so much inside that he says it makes him hate Peterson and want to take his IBF and WBA straps from him in their rematch on May 19th at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Khan said this as quoted by thesun.co.uk “I don’t like him because he has my titles. I am going in there to hurt him. In fact, In hate him as he has something I want. The belts that he took off me. I’ve never felt like that before. I want to hurt him and knock him out.”

Gee, Khan needs to lighten up, doesn’t he? I wonder why he didn’t have this rage about wanting to get revenge when he got spanked by Breidis Prescott in a 1st round knockout loss in 2008? Why was Khan so cool about that beating and not so good about accepting his loss to Peterson? I mean if it were me, I’d want to get even with Prescott even more than Peterson, because the Prescott loss looked much worse with Khan’s jaw getting contorted at the moment of impact by Prescott’s left hook.

Khan continues “I am not going in the ring at the Mandalay Bay to be crazy and wild. I want to show him by handing out a boxing lesson.”

A boxing lesson, huh? That sounds like code for Khan is going to run, stop and throw flurries with 90% of the shots missing, and then doing a lot of holding and shoving. A boxing lesson I think not. More like the same spoiling tactics Khan used in the last fight against Peterson that eventually cost him two points and the fight. Khan needs to stop hating and sit down and learn something about his horrible performance last time out against Peterson, and stop blaming his loss on the referee, the judges and the mystery man. Khan needs to own the loss and learn not to run around the ring shoving Peterson putting him in chocking headlocks. Fight him, don’t run. Floyd Mayweather Jr. already said he doesn’t like Khan’s fighting style because he runs too much and thinks he should have been disqualified for fouling Peterson last time they fought. If Khan wants the Mayweather fight, he’s going to have to change his fighting style and stop running, holding, shoving and putting guys in headlocks.
