Image: Khan calls himself "The King," says he'll never fight Kell BrookBy William Mackay: Amir Khan is up in arms with unbeaten welterweight contender Kell Brook having the nerve to call him out for a fight that would make both fighters a ton of money. Khan doesn’t feel that Brook is worthy of a fight against him for some reason, but guys like Paul McCloskey and Paulie Malignaggi apparently are worthy. Khan is now saying he’ll NEVER fight Brook.

Khan said this on his twitter today: “Kell Brook calling me a queen then begs me to give him a payday. For that quote, talk like a man instead of talking like a queer. I promise because of all of this and [Eddie] Hearn’s bull**** – I will NEVER give him a shot. Kell Brook doesn’t deserve to fight The King, ever. I’ll never box him now.”

The last time I checked, Khan isn’t holding any titles, so how is he calling himself “The King”? He lost his last fight. I think the whole King thing needs to go out the window for awhile until Khan starts winning again and doing it in style instead of the way he fought last time with all the shoving, holding and headlocks he was putting Lamont Peterson in. I thought I was watching a boxer [Peterson] fight an MMA fighter. It wasn’t a pretty fight to watch.

If Khan doesn’t face Brook, he’ll only be hurting himself and making people draw comparisons between Ricky Hatton’s refusal to fight Junior Witter when the two fighters were at the top of the light welterweight division but living in the same country. Witter wanted the fight, but Hatton didn’t. Brook wants to fight Khan, but Khan doesn’t want the fight. I’d favor Brook over Khan right now due to his power, pressure, and chin. I can see why Khan wouldn’t want that fight, because Brook could end the show and take over as the new King in the UK.
