Froch is likely to get slaughtered by Bute unless he gets lucky

Image: Froch is likely to get slaughtered by Bute unless he gets luckyBy Scott Gilfoid: You hate to see a fighter take a bout where he only has little more than a puncher’s chance at best to win the fight. That’s never been more the case as it is with the May 26th fight between IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute and challenger Carl Froch in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, UK. It’s a home fight for Froch, but it’s meaningless because he doesn’t have the same kind of talent that Bute does. It’s a nightmarish match-up that you see ending badly for Froch even before the first punches is thrown.

What it comes down to is this: Either Froch score a lucky knockout like he got with Jermain Taylor their fight in 2009 or Froch will take a beating and likely end up getting humbled in front of his own British fans in Nottingham. If this was meant as a cash out fight for Froch, then I’m all for it because it gives Froch a nice little payday before he wraps things up on his career. But if he took this fight thinking he can win it, then I’m really, really disappointed in Froch’s promoter for not talking Froch out from taking this fight.

I wouldn’t let him get within 2000 miles of Bute if I promoted Froch because it’s not a fight to where Froch has much of a chance at winning. Yeah, he has a chance but we’re talking one of those astronomical type of chances where a combination of events have to be in line for Froch to get lucky. Since he’s already signed for the fight and can’t back out with one of those old injuries that fighters like to use to squeeze their way out of a tough predicament, I think Froch needs to really swing for the fences with every punch. He might as well go out on his shield by swinging hard because if he plays it cool, he’s just going to lose every round and end up looking silly.
