Image: Warren wants Haye to fight Chisora with winner to face VitaliBy Allan Fox: At last night’s post fight for the Vitali Klitschko vs. Dereck Chisora fight, Frank Warren, the promoter for Chisora, suggested that former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye fight Chisora for the right to fight Vitali for his World Boxing Council title. Klitschko manager Bernd Boente seemed to be excited by that idea, saying “David, do a box off with this guy.”

Warren said “If Dereck fights David, the winner fights Vitali.”

It would be an appealing fight because both Haye and Chisora have a lot to prove and it won’t be nearly as interesting for Vitali to fight a rematch with Chisora straightaway or take on Haye given that he’s coming off of a one-sided loss to Wladimir Klitschko from last year.

The problem with a Haye-Chisora fight is that Haye isn’t the slightest bit interested in making that fight, saying at the press conference “You lost three fights in a row,” talking about Chisora.

Chisora didn’t like Haye shaming him with this face. It’s not really fact, because Chisora actually hasn’t lost his last three fights; he’s three out of his last four bouts, which doesn’t sound much better than someone who has lost their last three fights. Chisora got up out of his chair when Haye told Chisora why he wasn’t interested in fighting him. Anyway, it led to Chisora getting busted in the face by Haye and the rest of it is history.

Chisora and Warren want the Haye fight but it’s going to be all but impossible to get him to take that fight because Chisora has lost three out of his last four fights. But perhaps more important than that is he’s come across as someone wild and unpredictable to where you don’t know if he’s going to slap you, spit on you or kiss you on the mouth when you have to come in contact with him during press conferences and weigh-ins.

Chisora my not have thought about the repercussions of acting striking or spiting on an opponent. That’s not going to make guys what to fight you. And Chisora has recently been making physical threats towards Haye, saying he’ll slap him as soon as they meet. At the press conference, Chisora said he’ll shoot and burn Haye. That’s not a good thing to be saying if you want someone to fight you.

When Chisora walked up on Haye at the press conference, Haye didn’t even hesitate; he just slugged Chisora in the jaw with a right hand. I think Haye wouldn’t have done that Chisora not talked previously about wanting to slap Haye as soon as he saw him. Haye probably thought Chisora would come up to him and then cheap shot him when he was least suspecting it.

No one wants to get punched when they’re not ready for it. But Chisora really needs to tone down his act otherwise he’ll have no takers at all and will be avoided by the best guys in the division due to them not wanting to be hit with a cheap shot or spit on the way Chisora spit on Wladimir on Saturday.
