Image: Ward ducking Bute: Why?By Marian Toca: Yet again the boxing fans have to face the facts that there are only few fighters out there left that are willing to fight the best no matter what.

WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Andre Ward (25-0, 13 KO’s), the winner of the Super Six Tournament, is another example of today’s fighters who would do anything to hang on to their status for as long as possible. During the Super Six he was saying that he is ready to face IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (30-0, 24 KO’s) as soon as the tournament is finished to prove that he is the number one super middleweight in the world. Now that the tournament is done and Ward got the trophy he changed his mind and would like to tale a break and fight some nobodies for some time as if his fights are not boring enough.

I think it’s time to face the facts and acknowledge that Bute is the best fighter and earner in the division. All the other fighter need to get in the ring with him if they want to make some money. Even Showtime knows this and they show it by paying Bute more money for three fight deal than they paid for the winner of the Super Six.

Nobody is more popular than Bute in the super middleweight division and nobody wants Ward more then Bute, even in Oakland, California. Why? Simply because Bute wants to be recognized as the best and he is the only one maybe except for former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (28-2, 20 KO’s) willing to risk all.

Ward is behaving like poor man wishing all his life to win the lottery thinking that his life will be great but to find out that he can’t fall asleep worrying he might loose the money and became poor again.
