The fight came about after a solid month of complaining by Khan and his promoters at Golden Boy Promotions where they pointed fingers to blame others for what Khan failed to do in the ring last December 10th at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.

Now that Khan has the rematch, Peterson needs to come up with some useful ideas that he can use to stop Khan from yanking down on the back of his neck to pull his head down every time Peterson tries to get in close to fight on the inside. Besides that, Peterson needs to come up with a solution to keep Khan from shoving him all the time like he did last time they fought where Khan shoved Peterson over 60 times in the fight.

Khan’s promoter Richard Schaefer says he’s spoken with the Nevada State Athletic Commission to ensure that everything is run fairly for this fight. However, I’m wondering who the referee will be that gets selected for this fight, because it’s pretty important if you’re Peterson. If a referee is picked out that doesn’t lift a finger to stop Khan from shoving and yanking down on the back of Peterson’s head every time he comes in close, then Peterson is going to be in a position where he’ll be in the ring all by himself with a fighter that is being allowed to foul him.

In that case, if the referee turns a blind eye to Khan’s shoving and yanking Peterson by the back of the head all night, then Peterson is going to have to have a plan B in how to counteract the fouling from Khan. He can’t just let Khan shove and pull down on his head because he won’t be able to throw many punches. Peterson may have to return fire with some fouling of his own to get Khan to stop. If Khan is going to put him in headlocks then Peterson needs to do the same and do shoving of his own.

It doesn’t work out quite as well for Peterson, though, because Khan can’t fight worth a lick on the inside and it’s not really worth it to put him in headlocks, shove him and pull his head down all night like Khan was doing. But Peterson is going to have to come up with something to get Khan not to foul if the referee that’s selected for this fight is one of those ones that believes that fighters should be able to shove and pull down on their opponents’ heads 24/7.
