Image: David Price vs Sam Sexton: OfficialBy Scott Fitzgerald: Well after the debacle of Tyson Fury taking the decision to vacate his British & Commonwealth titles David Price will finally have his day and fight for the belts against a man I petitioned for in Sam Sexton.

I personally see this as a great clash of styles and really a do or die fight for Sam Sexton who like John McDermott seems to be the falling into the category of the British scenes nearly man.

Now with Sam Sexton you get a pretty tidy boxer with good technique and skill what seems to let him down the most is his composure, which led to being reckless and ultimately led to him being gassed. In a 12 round fight you cannot be reckless and Derek Chisora took advantage in both of their bouts but I digress. My sincere hope is that Sam Sexton takes the challenge of David Price seriously and looks at this fight as his chance to redeem himself; he has the tools but unfortunately reckless mistakes have cost him in the past.

David Price comes with one punch knockout power and with his ever improving technique and skillset I see this as nothing but a good test against a boxer who has everything to gain and ultimately a hell of a lot to lose. I applaud David Price’s attitude and it’s clear he has endeared himself to the public very quickly and it’s a shame that Tyson Fury has shown such cowardice in vacating the titles to avoid an eagerly awaited domestic showdown but such is boxing nowadays that money and a fighters “O” simply dictate their destiny.

That being said we the fight public get to see a great fight between two young heavyweights in Sam Sexton & David Price which could be a domestic classic and I cannot wait to see it.
