Chisora playing with fire

Image: Chisora playing with fireBy David Coleman: Dereck Chisora has somehow managed to make the already difficult job of beating Vitali Klitschko even harder by slapping the reigning WBC champion during their stare down in Munich yesterday. The slap from Chisora was unprofessional, disrespectful and downright stupid.

However, this is just the latest on a long list of ludicrous antics from “Del Boy”, who now faces having some of his purse deducted by the WBC. In May 2009, despite dominating the little known Paul Butlin, Chisora bit his opponents ear risking disqualification in what was a routine victory. Controversy followed the Briton again in February 2010 when he kissed Carl Baker at the weigh in prior to their fight.

It seems “Del Boy” is doing little to salvage the reputation of his country, which was left in tatters by fellow heavyweight David Haye when he ran from Wladimir Klitschko for twelve rounds before blaming his poor performance on a broken little toe. Haye embarrassed himself in Hamburg that night, and with Chisora’s embarrassing behaviour, the Germans may well be beginning to wonder what they put in the water in England.

Vitali looked both surprised and furious after the incident and labelled Chisora a “girl”. You have to think that the Englishman has done himself no favors in aggravating somebody as powerful as the Ukranian. Vitali went on to vow he would get his revenge inside the ring.

One thing for sure, being the predator that he is, Vitali will see the slap from Chisora as a sign of nervousness. Expect fireworks in Munich tonight. My money is on an angry Klitschko stopping the overmatched Chisora within four rounds, and teaching him some manners along the way.
