Chisora could take the easy way out tonight and get disqualified

Image: Chisora could take the easy way out tonight and get disqualifiedBy William Mackay: I wouldn’t bet against Dereck Chisora opting to take the easy way out of his fight tonight against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko by fouling to the point where he’s disqualified for doing something crazy like hitting after the bell, throwing rabbit punches, low blows or biting.

Chisora but Paul Butlin on the neck during their fight in May 2009, and incredibly Chisora wasn’t disqualified. But believe me, if he bites tonight, he will be booted from the bout. Chisora’s slapping of Vitali on Friday reeks of desperation, like a fighter that will do anything to try and upset Vitali to the point where he’s not thinking.

But I also believe that Chisora may use fouling to escape punishment to get an early exit when things aren’t going his way and he’s starting to take a beating. Some guys, in particular ones that brag a lot, don’t want to be seen getting humiliated. So if things aren’t going their way, they’ll take the easy way out by fouling or coming up with a mystery injury to prevent people from being humbled.

I don’t know why but I have a strong feeling that Chisora is going to take that path by fouling in a serious manner that will leave the referee with no choice but to disqualify him. They can’t leave Chisora in the ring if he starts fouling and doing something really serious.

Slapping won’t have any effect on Vitali tonight. Chisora will have to up it a notch if he wants to upset Vitali, and it might take something especially heinous for Haye to get the desired results. And like I said, I think Chisora’s intention tonight might be to simply get kicked out of the fight rather than him trying to get a small advantage against Vitali.
