Image: Vitali looking to hand Chisora his first knockout lossBy Scott Gilfoid: Dereck Chisora (15-2, 9 KO’s) has yet to be knocked out or even knocked down during his five-year pro career and he takes this as a badge of honor that no one has yet to hurt him. WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (43-2, 40 KO’s) said he’ll be stopping Chisora by the 8th round on February 18th in Munich, Germany.

Chisora is facing the heavyweight with the highest knockout percentage ever in the sport in the hared hitting Vitali and the odds are high that he’ll add Chisora’s scalp to his collection of growing knockout victims.

Vitali’s looking number 41 to add to his list and Chisora doesn’t have the kind of fighting style that lends to the belief that he won’t become another statistic.

Indeed, if I was to pick out the perfect opponent that fits with Vitali’s style, Chisora would be in the top 3. He’s a short, rounded come forward type of fighter with little hand speed and too much courage for his own good. He fights as in a reckless manner and has gotten away with it because of the mostly mediocre opposition he’s faced.

Here are the top knockout percentages among heavyweights in the history of the
sport:

Vitali Klitschko – 88.9%
Rocky Marciano -87.8%
George Foreman – 84.0%
Wladimir Klitschko – 83.1%
Mike Tyson – 75.9%

During the press conference last Monday, Chisora claimed that Vitali was boring and that it’ll be good when he and his brother are out of the sport. However, if you look at Vitali’s results, he’s knocking everyone out he faces. How is that boring for Chisora? His knockout percentage is only 52.94%.

Shouldn’t Vitali be calling Chisora boring? Most Chisora’s wins have come against god awful opposition and he’s calling Vitali boring? Like I said before, I think this fight is just plain wrong. Chisora wasn’t even a 1st tier fighter when Vitali agreed to fight him and even now is ranked rock bottom by the WBC at #15. Chisora has lost two out of his last three fights and I can’t remember the last time a fighter fought for a world title having lost two out of his last three fights.

I think Vitali is going to have no problems adding Chisora to his knockout column on February 18th. There are too many things going against the small British fighter and he really would be better off facing someone like Tyson Fury again to see if he could beat him while in shape rather than being give a title shot.
