Wladimir beat a very timid looking Haye last July in a one-sided 12 round decision in Germany.

Wladimir could have selected a top contender for his next fight on March 3rd, but instead found the 39-year-old Mormeck occupying the middle of the rankings at #9 IBF, #9 WBO, #10 WBA. What made Mormeck so appealing is that he’s an old timer with an already established fan base in France and a recognizable name to European boxing fans and the hardcore fans in the United States.

However, Mormeck doesn’t have much left in the tank at 39 and is fighting someone well above his old fighting weight of 200lbs in Wladimir. It’s going to be extremely difficult for the 5’11” Mormeck to get anything done against the 6’6” 245 pound Wladimir because he’s so much bigger, heavier and stronger than Mormeck.

However, this fight wasn’t meant to be competitive. It was set up because Mormeck is well known and it can make some money for both Wladimir and Mormeck but at the expense of an entertaining fight for the fans that will be watching it. It’ll be entertaining if you like to see Wladimir tee off a shorter, older opponent who is fighting someone 50 pounds out of his weight class, but in the general sense, this will be dull fight to watch.

Mormeck will try harder than Haye to make a fight and for that reason it’ll be more entertaining but a lot shorter because of that. Haye likely lasted 12 rounds only because he fought timidly. Mormeck won’ fight like that and will get knocked out quickly because of his superior courage. If Mormeck can at least land a few shots, it could be interesting for a while but I doubt he’ll remain standing for too long once Wladimir gets warmed up.
