The fighters are all that’s left of a once crowded pool of marvelous athletes like Andre Ward, Allan Green, Glen Johnson, Arthur Abraham and Mikkel Kessler. Arguably the most talented fighter of the entire bunch, Andre Dirrell, was injured last year after slipping to the canvas in his bout against Abraham and getting hit while on the deck last year. Dirrell was forced to withdraw from the tournament despite winning his fight.

With Dirrell out of the tournament, it left Ward as the main guy to cruise to the finals, which is exactly what he’s done with easy wins over Kessler, Green, and Abraham. Now Ward is about to face Froch in what will surely end up being an anti-climactic finals bout. The reason it’s not as interesting as it should be is because Froch was easily handled by Kessler last year in a 12 round decision loss, and Ward destroyed Kessler two years ago, beating him by an 11th round technical decision.

Just do the math. Froch gets whipped by Kessler, who schooled by Ward. The outcome if obvious to anyone with any kind of head on their shoulders – Froch is going to get battered by Ward. It’s still going to be a fun fight to watch, but it’s just not a fight where you have a whole lot of suspense going in because of Ward’s huge talent advantage.

Speed – Ward
Power – even
Foot speed – Ward
Trainer – Ward
Ring knowledge – Ward
Experience – even
Heart – even
Defense – Ward
Size – Ward with the longer arms. Height the same

As you can see, Ward has the advantage in pretty much every area you can think of.
