This is a huge step down for Jones after losing his last three fights to world class fighters Danny Green, Bernard Hopkins and Denis Lebedev. One can imagine that Jones’ paycheck will also be a lot smaller for this fight than what he’s been accustomed to getting, but it’s better to win than to keep facing quality guys and getting knocked out.

Jones is nothing like what he used to be and really should have hung up the gloves years ago. But he continues for whatever reason. If Jones win this fight he’d like to face Antonio Tarver for a fourth fight between. It would seem to be another knockout loss for Jones, because Tarver, 42, is still fighting at a very high level unlike Jones.

Jones also had some interesting things to say about the Klitschkos in an interview at Eastsideboxing.com’s On the Ropes Boxing Radio program, saying “I ain’t scared of them and I know one of them [Wladimir] doesn’t have the strongest chin, and that’s the one I would be aiming for.”

Jones says in the same interview that he feels that the Klitschkos are too big and he doesn’t want to be the one that has to fight them. That sounds like Jones is thinking clearly because he would be massacred by either of the Klitschkos.

Tonight’s fight is a mismatch. Jones is a lot better than Alexander, even the current completely shot version of Jones. He’ll likely pound out a 10 round decision because Alexander has a strong chin and it will be hard for Jones to get a stoppage unless he really unloads on this kind. I doubt Jones will want to take the chance he might run into something given his tendency to get knocked out a lot.
