Image: Kell Brook wants to razzle-dazzle against Galarza, hopes to lure Khan into a fightBy Sean McDaniel: Unbeaten welterweight contender Kell Brook (25-0, 17 KO’s) has been completely ignored by fellow countryman Amir Khan despite having done well in the past year in beating a couple of quality fighters. Brook is still hoping to get a Khan fight in 2012 and sees Saturday’s fight against Luis Galarza (17-2, 13 KO’s) as a stepping stone to a world title fight and a bout against Khan next year.

Brook, 25, fights on the undercard of the Andre Ward vs. Carl Froch fight at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The fight will be televised by Showtime in the United States, which will allow Brook to be seen by a lot of boxing fans.

Brook told the BBC Sport “Everyone knows I want the Amir Khan fight. I’d like to definitely come that fight with World titles. It would be appealing to the fans; it would be appealing to Amir Khan.”

Brook needs to rethink his dream of fighting Khan, because Khan isn’t eager to make that fight happen for some reason. There is something about Brook’s style of fighting that has Khan backing off and going in the opposite direction.

Instead of focusing on Khan, Brook needs to worry about looking good and just winning the fight against Galarza on Saturday because this kid may turn out to be a little tougher than Brook imagines him to be. Galarza may not be ranked in the top 15, but he’s someone with decent skills and ability to put a lot of pressure on his opponents. Galarza beat Paul DelGado by an eight round split decision in his last fight, and Delgado was recently in with Jan Zaveck in a 5th round KO loss earlier this year in February.

Brook said to boxingtoday.co.uk “I’m looking to impress and razzle and dazzle.”

He likes to try and show off and seems to have a fighting style similar to Naseem Hamad, only a lot slower and not nearly as powerful as Hamad was for his weight class.
