The pair, known universally as the two best super-middleweights in the division, will meet in Atlantic City on Saturday night in the eagerly awaited final of the Super Six tournament.

Froch’s fellow Brit, Amir Khan, felt he had his titles robbed from him after controversially being docked two points by a hometown referee in Washington last week. With this fresh in the minds of both boxers, the Nottingham man admits he’s fearing the same fate.

‘The Cobra’ (28-1,20 KO’s), speaking to Sky Sports News, admitted it’s “always a concern” when fighting on foreign soil. He said: “I’m fighting an American, in America, on American soil.

“He’s an Olympic gold medallist, he’s the golden boy, he’s undefeated, he’s a great talent. He’s young, he’s good-looking he speaks well – he’s all the marketable things that a broadcaster like Showtime and the Americans want.”

Froch’s crude, unrelenting work might not be enough to catch the judges eye, especially in comparison to the flashy boxing skills of Ward (24-0, 13 KO’s). The former Olympian seemed less than impressed with ‘The Cobra’ when they faced off for HBO recently.

He told Froch: “Your built up to be invincible, no man is invincible. Any man can be knocked out”. He went on to say, “I watch these things closely, I saw (Andre) Dirrell buzz Carl Froch two times in that fight.”

However, the Englishman denied the claims, saying “I’m telling you now, categorically, you can not render me unconscious. But I can knock you out, with either hand.” Froch went on to say “Andre Ward is a great fighter, but I’m looking at knocking him out.”

This bout is shaping up to be one of the biggest fights of the year, with both men knowing that a victory here will ensure they are remembered as a ‘great’ in the super-middleweight division. With the coveted WBC and WBA straps on the line, as well as the title of the best in the division, all eyes will be firmly on the Boardwalk Hall this weekend.
