Ariza see Pacquiao stopping Marquez in the 1st
By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao’s strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza is really predicting big things for his fighter Pacquiao on Saturday, seeing him possibly stopping the 38-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez in the 1st round.
Instead of a grueling 12 round fight, which has been the hallmark of the previous two fights between Pacquiao and Marquez, Ariza doesn’t think it’s going to be much of a fight for some odd reason.
Ariza told Philboxing.com “I won’t be surprised if Manny knocks him [Marquez] out in the 1st round…I think Manny knocks him down, jumps on top of him and beats the s*** out of him and they stop it. Won’t be surprised if referee Tony Weeks stops the fight in the first three rounds because Manny is going to hit him so hard it’s going to change his [Marquez] life.”
I think Ariza needs to put down the pipe now. He’s really dreaming I can see. I don’t blame him for wanting his fighter Pacquiao to win the fight. After all, Ariza will get a lot of credit if Pacquiao is able to stop Marquez early or at all.
Ariza can then strut around like a peacock and feel good about his accomplishments. However, the reality is Pacquiao probably won’t be able to knock Marquez out, not in the 1st, 2nd or 12th. Ariza needs to come down to earth and just pray that his fighter wins the bout, period.
Pacquiao looks a lot slower on his feet since Ariza started training him as far as I’m concerned. I don’t see any benefit whatsoever in all the weight that Pacquiao has put on under Ariza’s helm as a trainer.
