Sauerland wants Kessler to face Ward-Froch winner in Denmark in 2012
By Eric Thomas: After Mikkel Kessler (44-2, 33 KO’s) could fight the winner of the Super Six finals bout between Carl Froch and Andre Ward next year in Denmark if Kessler’s promotional company Sauerland gets their way. They want Kessler to fight the Ward-Froch winner in Parken, Denmark in 2012.
Kessler has to first beat WBO super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz in early 2012. If Kessler can win that fight then he’ll be able to move forward and fight the Froch vs. Ward winner. Kessler was supposed to fight Stieglitz on November 5th, but he injured his right hand. Kessler should be ready to go by early 2012. Once he picks up the World Boxing Organization belt, Kessler can move onto to face the Froch-Ward winner.
Kessler has already beaten Froch by a 12 round decision a year ago and he feels very comfortable with Froch’s fighting style. Kessler had a lot more problems against Ward, who beat Kessler by an 11th round technical decision in 2009. Kessler fought poorly and never did seem to solve Ward’s fighting style. The last guy that Kessler needs to be facing is a guy like Ward, because Kessler was never competitive in his loss to Ward.
