Right now, quite a few boxing fans think that Marquez won the first two Pacquiao-Marquez fights, and Pacquiao doesn’t like that. He wants to prove that he’s the better fighter and will be doing that by looking to dominate Marquez next month.

Roach said to RingTv “The message that I’m getting, looking at Manny and so forth, he wants to make a statement.”

Let’s hope so, because whatever he needs to get him motivated to beat Marquez this time, he needs to do it. Pacquiao looked awful in their first two fights, and took a lot of clean head shots throughout both fights.

Pacquiao looked nothing like the better fighter in those two bouts and it’s frankly surprising that the judges ruled the first fight a 12 round draw and then gave the 2nd fight to Pacquiao.

Michael Koncz, Pacquiao’s close adviser, said “Manny just wants to put it out of everybody’s mind that he’s not the best fighter out of the two of them.”

It’s a little late for that because Pacquiao failed in the first two fights to prove he was the better fighter. Now he’s got an old fighter in 38-year-old Marquez, and has the size and youth advantage over him as well.

Any win for Pacquiao now will be partially tainted because of those factors. The time for Pacquiao to have beaten Marquez was when he was younger and when both guys were fighting in the same weight classes.
