Taylor, 33, hasn’t fought in close to two years since being knocked out in the 12th round by Arthur Abraham on October 17th 2009 in the Super Six tournament. Taylor suffered a brain bleed in the loss. Taylor has since undergone a battery of neurological tests to determine whether he has any lingering problems to his brain but he’s passed all the tests.

Taylor recently passed a medical advisory panel, and this made the Commission’s job that much easier to vote him back his boxing license. With his boxing license back, Taylor can resume his career. It’s unclear when he plans on fighting again. He’ll be moving back down to the middleweight division where he had most of his success.

Taylor feels that it was too hard on his body to be fighting at super middleweight, and he is going to be much more careful with his diet so that he doesn’t have to drop so much weight during training camp.Taylor had problems making the 160 pound middleweight limit because of his tendency to balloon up in weight in between fights, getting as high as 200 pounds according to news from Dan Rafael of ESPN.

Entering training camps 30 to 40 pounds overweight led to Taylor experiencing stamina problems in the later rounds of his fights. We saw these problems surfacing in the 2nd half of Taylor’s fights against Carl Froch, Kelly Pavlik, Arthur Abraham, Cory Spinks, Winky Wright and Bernard Hopkins.

Taylor could find do well at middleweight, because the division is so poor right now that pretty anyone with halfway decent skills have a chance to pick up one of the titles.
