Image: Brook will smash Jackiewicz tonightBy Scott Gilfoid: Undefeated welterweight contender Kell Brook (24-0, 16 KO’s) will most definitely defeated a badly over-matched Rafal Jackiewicz (38-9-1, 19 KO’s) tonight at the Ponds Forge Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England. Yes, Brook will win alright, but so what.

You got a guy with nine losses on his record, what do you expect? Step it up, man! I’ve been waiting eight years for Brook to start facing quality opposition and I’m still waiting.

As far as I’m concerned, Brook’s career is following the same nice soft pattern as Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., the WBC middleweight paper champion. And like Chavez Jr., Brook wants to face one of the paper champions after he beats Jackiewicz tonight in WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko instead of the IBF champ Andre Berto, WBC champ Floyd Mayweather Jr. or the WBO champion Manny Pacquiao. That’s so sad. Why not go after the quality instead of the low lying fruit on the vine?

As for tonight’s fight, Brook will impose his will and blast Jackiewicz around the ring all night long until he takes him out around the 8th. If by chance Jackiewicz can somehow survive the entire 12 rounds, he’ll take a beating and give Brook some problems with his jab, left hook and right hand. His right is pretty weak but if you get hit with it enough it’ll mark you up nicely. Brook hasn’t had to take much punishment in his career because of the weak opposition that’s continuously fed to him.

I can see Brook in a bit of a shock when he starts taking punishment for the first time in his career and he may react in a weird way by running. I hope not but I think we may see Brook run tonight if he can’t get Jackiewicz out of there. It will look bad of course because Jackiewicz has no power, but when you have a guy like Brook who’s used to taking out his overmatched opponents fairly early and put him in with someone that’s sticking aorund until the late rounds, I think Brook might run out of gas.
