Amir Khan says that Floyd Mayweather has verbally agreed to fight him
By Dale Clark: Amir Khan is once again talking about a possible fight with Floyd Mayweather in 2012. Khan has today told Sky Sports news, ‘After Lamont [Peterson] I will move up to fight at 147lbs (welterweight). I will have one more fight at 147 and then fight Floyd. This time next year could be the big fight for me. I have ambitions and one of them is to fight Floyd Mayweather and beat him, but I have got Lamont Peterson to beat first. I know I have to focus on this one fight because one mistake can change your life and I don’t want that to happen’.
I think Khan could give Mayweather problems with his movement and hand speed. However, I do think that at this point in both careers Mayweather still wins with his class and experience and Khan still has too many holes in his game. Respect has to go to Amir Khan for wanting to step up a weight and take on the pound for pound best in the world. Good luck to him.
