Image: Quick Q&A with Paulie MalignaggiBy Ian Aldous: Paulie Malignaggi (29-4) has been there, done that and bought the t-shirt. The former World champion will fight Orlando Lora (28-1-1) on the undercard of the upcoming Bernard Hopkins vs. Chad Dawson fight and ‘Magic Man’ looks to get back into title contention with a win.

Paulie took a few minutes away from training to answer the following questions ahead of the fight.

On 15th October, you will face Orlando Lora (28-1-1) on the Bernard Hopkins vs. Chad Dawson undercard. Please give us your thoughts on the fight.

PM “Honestly, I don’t know much about Orlando Lora except his record. He is going to come to fight, I know that for sure. Everyone wants to use Paulie Malignaggi as a stepping-stone, but not this time. I never take any fighter lightly, so I’ll be training hard like always and come fight night, I’ll be ready”.

Your last two fights have been at welterweight; do you think you’ll be staying in this weight division or moving back down to light-welterweight in the future?

PM “I’m staying here, I can’t make 140 anymore”.

Where do you currently rank yourself in the welterweight division? Do you feel that you are 1 or 2 fights away from a title fight?

PM “I always deserve a title fight. But first thing is first; I have to deal with Orlando Lora October 15th. Then we will see what is on the table after October’s victory.”

In June 2007, you captured the IBF light-welterweight championship after defeating Lovemore Ndou in Connecticut. Tell us about that night and what it meant to win a World title.

PM “Means the world, I wouldn’t change my life or that night for anything. Can’t put a price on being a World champ, only few get to experience that.”

You’ve been in the professional game for ten years now. How long do you see yourself boxing for?

PM “Not too much longer, will see what happens in the next two years.”

Being a welterweight yourself, if a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao superfight ever gets made, who do you see winning the fight?

PM “Mayweather.”
