For the 26-year-old Huck, this is his second consecutive fight in which he’s taken on a bottom #15 ranked contender. In his last fight last July, Huck defeated #15 ranked Hugo Hernan Garay by a 10th round TKO in a one-sided fight. Now Huck is facing another bottom #15 ranked contender. I don’t know about you, but it sure looks like Huck is milking his WBO title for all it’s worth.

Huck hasn’t exactly been in a big hurry to take on his number #1 ranked contender Denis Lebedev, who Huck won a very controversial decision over a year ago last December in a 12 round split decision victory that took place in Huck’s adopted country of Germany. But Huck doesn’t seem to be looking to get in the ring with Lebedev anytime soon, and I guess you can’t blame him because he struggled badly against the Russian. I had Lebedev winning 9 rounds to 3 over Huck in a one-sided fight.

I haven’t seen much of Rossi, but I do know that most of his wins have come against little known fighters from his home country of Argentina. There isn’t any contenders on Rossi’s resume as far as I can tell, and that makes his choice as an opponent for Huck a very odd one. You would like to see a champion at least take on a fighter with some experience and not just someone ranked at the bottom for the sake of taking on the guy who is the least threat.

At some point, Huck will have to face Lebedev or whoever the number #1 contender is, and I’m looking forward to it. Huck needs to step it up against better guys because he seems to be following in the footsteps of German based Felix Sturm, the WBA middleweight champion, who has never had a big time opponent during his time as the WBA champion.
