Image: Froch's promoter not happy with Ward postponement, wants his fighter back in the ring in October or NovemberBy Sean McDaniel: Eddie Hearn, the promoter for WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (28-1, 20 KO’s), is extremely upset with the news that WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (24-0, 13 KO’s) suffered a really bad cut in sparring yesterday that required seven stitches to sew up the cut.

Hearn is wasn’t pleased with how the fight postponement was announced, as if came directly from Ward’s twitter account instead of from his promoters in a more official manner.

The Ward-Froch super Six finals bout was supposed to take place next month on October 29th, but it may not be possible until early 2012 due to the severity of the cut. It’s going to take a long time to heal a cut of that magnitude.

Hearn doesn’t like the idea of his fighter Froch, who is getting up there in age at 34, having to sit idle for another three or four months. This means a missed payday for his fighter, and that will obviously cost Froch a lot of money he could have made.

Hearn said this to Sky Sports News: “It’s very unprofessional to do so in that manner. I would think Showtime and his promoters will be more formal with the way he’s delivered the message. At the moments all we can do is take what he said until I get confirmation from Showtime and the promoters. I told Carl to go to the gym this morning. At the moment he’s sparring. We don’t believe it. We won’t believe it until we see the cut. The good thing about Showtime is they run a very tight documentary series on fights like that. They’ll probably have camera crews outside his [Ward] house as we speak to see if it’s a legitimate cut, because we want to see if because we’re not happy. I think they’re going to make us wait. Carl Froch is 34-years-old. We’ve got work to do, and we want to go out and fight in October or November. It’s quite unusual a cut of that size happens in sparring. If they’re talking about postponement until 2012, we’re not happy. If that’s the case, lets do a big show in Nottingham [Froch’s home city] in October or November and bring Carl Froch to defend his WBC title. If Andre Ward wants to do a fight in January or February next year, we’ll do it that way, but we’re not happy. We want to fight and we’re prepared to fight in October or November.”

The problem with Froch fighting someone else next month or in November is that Froch could get injured in that fight and then we’d have Ward waiting on Froch. And who knows what Ward would do? He might want to slip in his own fight, and this could really lengthen the time between the two fighters finally getting in the ring.
