Image: Chisora-Olubamiwo added to Burns-Katsidis and Groves-Smith cardBy Sean McDaniel: Former British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora (14-1, 9 KO’s) will be fighting for the first time since losing his belts against Tyson Fury last July when the 27-year-old Chisora takes on the 6’4″ hulking Larry Olubamiwo (10-2, 9 KO’s) on the undercard of the Ricky Burns vs. Michael Katsidis and George Groves vs. Paul Smith card on November 5th at the Wembley Arena in London, England.

Chisora came into the Fury fight weighing a heavy 261 lbs for some reason. The added weight that Chisora put on for that fight looked to be mostly fat, and it seemed to hurt his stamina. Chisora wasn’t able to throw nonstop punches like he’d done in other fights, and was reduced to fighting in spurts. That didn’t work out too work for Chisora, as Fury throw a lot of punches in the fight and easily outmaneuvered the shorter and heavier Chisora to get an easy 12 round decision win.

It probably doesn’t matter what weight Chisora comes in for this fight, as Olubamiwo is slow and moves like a big tank. He can punch hard, but his lack of speed will hurt him against Chisora. Olubamiwo was stopped in the 1st round in his last fight against John McDerott in February 2011. McDermott never gave Olubamiwo a chance, as he came out fast throwing a lot of punces and knocked Olubamiwo down twice before the fight was finally halted.

Chisora needs to look good in this fight to show boxing fans that he’s learned from the mistakes he made in the Fury loss.

Also on the card will be Ryan Walsh vs. Liam Richards, super bantamweights, Billy Joe Saunders vs. Gary Boulden, light middleweights.

As you can see this is an excellent card now that Chisora vs. Olubamiwo has been added to it. This could have at least three good competitive fights.
