Image: Tyson Fury wants unbeaten Mike Perez or David Price for September 17th fightBy Sean McDaniel: Unbeaten British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (15-0, 10 KO’s) doesn’t believe in taking it easy as he looks to move up the world heavyweight ladder. Fury, 23, reportedly wants to fight either undefeated Cuban heavyweight Mike Perez (16-0, 12 KO’s) or his old nemesis 6’8″ David Price (11-0, 9 KO’s) for a fight that would be taking place on September 17th in Belfast, Ireland.

By far, the 28-year-old Price is the bigger name and the much better fighter of the two for Fury, as Price has one punch knockout power in either hand and is the 2008 Olympic super heavyweight bronze medalist. He’s got talent, power and an ability to fight in a lot of different styles. It would be a very tough fight for Fury. However, Fury has really progressed recently, thanks to help from legendary trainer Emanuel Steward, as well a change in his diet. Fury’s style has become more like heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko with Fury using a lot of movement. He could be a nightmare opponent for someone like Price if he could stand up to the huge shots from Price.

Perez is an excellent fighter as well. He recently won the Prizefighter tournament with wins over Tye Fields, Gregory Tony and Kertson Manswell. However, the southpaw Perez is only 5’11” at best, and is more of Dereck Chisora-type clone. He’s more active than Chisora with less body fat, but he would be faced with the same size disadvantage that the 6’1″ Chisora faced against the 6’9″ Fury. It would next to impossible for Perez to beat Fury by decision. It would come down to whether or not Perez could knock him out, and I doubt he could because of Fury’s excellent chin. Fury would use a lot of movement and give the short-armed Perez fits. I see this as an easy fight for Fury, and the one he has a much better chance of making.

Price likely won’t agree to fight Fury because he’s got a November bout against John McDermott in a British heavyweight title eliminator bout.
