By Sean McDaniel: Undefeated heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (15—0, 10 KO’s) is really starting to make a name for himself after defeating British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora by a lopsided 12 round decision recently.

The fight was seen all around the world and it was a very impressive performance from Fury, because he showed mobility, power and boxing ability that a lot of fans never knew he had.

After the victory, the charismatic Fury could have easily fought for a world title against IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, who was anxious to get Fury in the ring for one of his stadium fights either in Germany or the UK.

However, Fury decided not to take the fight in order to continue to slowly grow as a fighter. There’s been talk of Fury fighting 40-year-old Martin Rogan, Neven Pajkic, Michael Perez and David Price.

What Fury needs is someone like Perez or Price so that he can continue to learn and evolve as a fighter. Taking an older heavyweight isn’t going to give the 6’9” Fury much because he’s too good for someone like Rogan.

Fury has got to take on guys that will challenge him. The thing is the management for the 23-year-old Fury can’t afford to wait too long before stepping him up a level because there are other heavyweight contenders who are ready to move in and hog the spotlight if Fury isn’t able to make a step up. That’s the fact.

If Fury doesn’t make a move he’s going to be forgotten about, because no one wants to see him fighting 3rd tier heavyweights or guys that are into their 40s.

Fury has been working with trainer Emanuel Steward and he’s made great strides with his help, but he needs to continue to learn so that he can one day compete with the Klitschkos or take over once they retire from boxing.
