Image: Pacquiao-Marquez: Will Manny continue to have problems with his movementBy Chris Williams: If you look at how much Manny Pacquiao has slowed down in terms of ability to move around the ring in the past two years you would be startled. Pacquiao, 32, is getting up there in age and is nearing 33. That may be young for big fighters like the Klitschko brothers, but it may be old for Pacquiao, because he can’t move around the ring like he did two years ago.

The legs just aren’t there for Pacquiao. On November 12th, Pacquiao if facing 38-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez for their third fight. The bout will take place at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada, which is the same city that they fought in last time three years ago when Pacquiao won a controversial 12 round decision. Now with Pacquiao’s wheels all but gone, we could see Marquez giving Pacquiao really problems.

That’s not to say that Marquez will be given the decision. I can’t see the judges giving Marquez a win over boxing’s cash cow. Pacquiao is big business for the sport, and getting a decision against him would take an incredible performance from Marquez to escape with a win I hate to say. I don’t care too much about that, because I already know Pacquiao win.

Marquez is too old, and the catch weight isn’t enough for the smaller Marquez to win this fight. But what I’m interested in seeing is how much of a plodder Pacquiao will be. His legs just aren’t there any more. Pacquiao can’t hop from side to side the way he used to, and is more of a walker nowadays. In his last fight against 39-year-old Shane Mosley, the excuse was that Pacquiao had leg cramps.

Okay, I’ll buy that, but what about in his fights against Antonio Margarito and Joshua Clottey? Pacquiao wasn’t able to move well in those bouts either. What happened? Is the power feeding that Pacquiao is doing in order to keep his weight at 147 taking his legs away or is just plain old age rearing it’s ugly head and robbing Pacquiao of his great footwork. My theory is that it’s a combination of both – old age and the power feeding.
