Image: Pacquiao’s lack of movement could be his downfall against MarquezBy Chris Williams: If you’ve seen the last couple of fights of Manny Pacquiao you’ll notice that he seems to be slowing down in terms of hand speed, stamina and an ability to get around the ring.

It’s fairly dramatic how much Pacquiao is slowed down. He’s no longer the spry young fighter that he once was and is becoming an old shuffler.

He hasn’t been beaten recently because he’s been matched up against soft opposition in Antonio Margarito and Shane Mosley, neither of which appear to be the same fighters they once were.

On November 12th, Pacquiao is going Juan Manuel Marquez, a guy that has given Pacquiao fits in two previous fights. Pacquiao was able to move a lot in those bouts, which probably saved him from getting completely dominated by the more skillful Marquez.

As it is, Marquez out-boxed and won the majority of the rounds in my view. Pacquiao had some knockdowns on glancing blows that really saved him. However, a slower, non-moving Pacquiao is going to be a sitting duck for Marquez.

This is the kind of opponent that Marquez eats up and spits out. He does well against slow plodders like Pacquiao, and makes them look really bad.

It’s unfortunate that Pacquiao waited all these years to finally fight Marquez again, as Pacquiao isn’t the same fighter he was back in 2008 when he won a questionable decision over Marquez.

Some fans think that Pacquiao has waited Marquez out, waiting until he got old to finally fight him again. However, I think it’s going to hurt him in reverse because Pacquiao, with his constant eating, is going to be the one that’s really hurt by this long wait.

He’s not the same fighter anymore. The age is starting to creep in and rob Pacquiao of his legs, feet and reflexes. Old age is terrible.
